Welcome to PRAGUE

Information about PRAGUE Prague is one of the few central European cities that survived the second world war without the destruction of all the monuments. Many of the main sights are located close to each other in the old town (Stare Mesto). Its compact medieval centre remains an evocative maze of cobbled lanes, ancient courtyards, dark passages and churches beyond number, all watched over by an 1100-year-old castle. Sightseeing in Prague means wandering through an invigorating diversity of neighbourhoods and pounding the cobblestones between old fortifications, historically resplendent squares and streets, majestic church-fronts, green open-air cuttings, and countless museum and gallery ticket booths. Since its beginnings Prague has always played an important role in the history of the nation, the country and Europe. Since the Middle Ages Prague has been famous as one of the most beautiful cities of the world, Throughout centuries prominent personalities paid homage to it. W. A. Mozart, L. van Beethoven, F. M. Dostojevsky, A. Rodin, G. Apollinaire, P. I. Tchaikovsky, O. Kokoschka and also the British Queen Elizabeth II and Pope John Paul II professed their beguilement by its attractiveness and architectural beauty. After the fall of the iron curtain Prague teamed up with the rest of Europe at a remarkable speed. As a result it has become the most expensive city in eastern Europe, but it's still a lot cheaper than most of Western Europe.
